Linwood Winfree Obituary

Linwood Ray Winfree Jr was the son of Linwood Ray Winfree Sr and Katherine Gentry born in Richmond, VA. After graduating, Ray joined the US Air Force in 1968 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in October 1972. Ray was a devoted son, brother, uncle, loving husband, and a great friend and role model to many. Known for his humorous disposition and willingness to help others, he was also an avid reader and a great conversationalist. Ray had recently retired from Rooms to Go in October 2023.

Ray is survived by his loving sister, Patsy Garner, nieces, Charlee Elizabeth Eberwien and Shirley Hartsook, nephews, Michael and Raymond Mahoney, and his late wife's loving adult children, William Heath Jr, Nathan Heath, Tammy Kopacsi, and Christopher Heath. He is also remembered by many loyal friends and extended family members. Ray was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Winfree, his parents, Linwood and Katherine Winfree and his sister, Shirley Mahoney.

Cherished in life, remembered with love always.

Graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery on 6/21 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization Ray felt strongly about.
