Lonnie Farmer Obituary

Lonnie O'Wain Farmer

September 19, 1953 - March 29, 2025

Lonnie O'Wain Farmer passed away on March 29, 2025, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his dear daughter, Jennifer, his beloved son, Nathan, his parents, Martha G. and Louis A. Farmer, and his brother-in-law, David F Phillips.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Debra C Farmer, his son, Lonnie O. Farmer, II (Mandy), and his cherished granddaughters, Lillianah, Zoey, and Blakely. He also leaves behind his eight siblings: Louis B. Farmer (Pat), Larry W. Farmer (Dottie), Robin F. Phillips, J. Linton Farmer (Martha), C. Latane' Farmer (Julie), Lujauna F. Koch (Donnie), Layne G. Farmer (MaryAnne), and Lee Ashley Farmer (Cheryl), and his aunt, Anne Goodwyn, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A proud graduate of Meadowbrook High School's Class of 1971, Lonnie continued his education at East Carolina University, earning his degree in 1975. That same year, he married the love of his life, Debbie, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and family.

Lonnie was a passionate golfer, first as a member of Meadowbrook Country club, where he spent many years playing the game he loved, and later as a founding member of The Foundry Golf Club, where he built lifelong friendships and spent countless hours on the course. He also cherished his time spent at Oakland Hunt Club, a family founded hunt club where he found peace and joy in the outdoors. His love for fishing and hunting were only rivaled by the love he had for his family, especially his three granddaughters, who were the light of his life.

A service will be held on Thursday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. at Open Door Baptist Church, 7151 Belmont Rd., Chesterfield, immediately followed by a celebration of life at Meadowbrook Country Club, 3700 Cogbill Rd., Richmond, to honor his memory. To celebrate his love of the Masters, you may wear your favorite golf attire in his honor if you wish.

His legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, an organization close to their hearts in honor of his two children, Jennifer and Nathan.

I have so many happy memories of the two of you, and so many of Lonnie from the links, and the Grill... What a smart, fun, and cool guy that was great to be around, and loved by so many. I am sending a warm hug, and my condolences to you all.

I will always cherish and be grateful for the 28 years that Lonnie and I worked together. He taught me so much in the working world. We were also close friends during those years going through so much together in his families life and in mine as well. That was Lonnie. There for you in good times and in the not so good times. He loved Debbie and his family unconditionally. I pray for his family during this sad time but I know he is now at peace and without any suffering. I will miss you. JoAnne
