Lorene Claiborne Ward

WARD Lorene Claiborne Ward, 78, of Buffalo Junction, wife of Mackie Ward, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Halifax Regional Hospital. A Mecklenburg County native, Lorene was the daughter of Ryland Burton and Minnie Wootton Claiborne. She graduated from Farmville State Teachers College with the class of 1947, and taught school for nine years before becoming a homemaker. Lorene was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church and was affiliated with Virginia Carolina Tobacco Warehouse. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Henry Lovelace officiating. In addition to her husband, Lorene is survived by son, Tim Ward Jr. of Clarksville; and sister, Lena Madison Smith of Skipwith. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the residence.
