Lucinda Lucy "Cindy" Jones

JONES, Lucinda "Cindy" Lucy, 78, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 28, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 18, 1944 in Cape May, N.J., the daughter of Philip Percival and Lois Hilton Lucy. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wiley S. Jones Jr. She also leaves behind her children, Jennifer J. Elliott and husband, John, of Winchester and Rebecca A. Jones of Chesterfield. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Madison E. Potter (Ryan) of Fairfax and Matthew T. Elliott of Leesburg. She is also survived by her brothers, Melvin Lucy of Chesapeake, Va., and Robert Lucy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William Lucy, James Lucy, and Philip Lucy; and a sister, Ann Smith. Mrs. Jones was a 1972 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked as a Buyer for Thalhimers and thereafter, had a 20-year career in school office administration with Chesterfield County Public Schools, retiring in 2004. She was an expert seamstress, gardener, cook, baker, a prolific reader and a fan of Virginia Tech football. She was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life. Despite her many health challenges through the years, she was always selfless, patient, caring and maintained a great sense of humor and happiness. She will be deeply mourned and sadly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road, in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the Massey Cancer Center at VCU, the American Literacy Society, or the charity of your choice.
