Luther 'Dinky' Anthony Everett, Jr.

Luther 'Dinky' Anthony Everett, Jr., 93, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2025. He is preceded into heaven by his son, Michael Everett; granddaughter, Kim Floyd; parents, Luther, Sr. and Elma Everett; sister, Barbara Farmer; brother, Bernard Everett; and his faithful pups, Sparky and Beau. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Marion Everett; daughters, Kimberley Gibbons, Whitney Everett, and Tracy Floyd; grandchildren, Matthew Gibbons (Rebecca), Jessica Webber (Troy), Sarah Lindsay (Larry), Kaitie Fisher, Tony Everett, Luke Everett, Alex Tharin (Emily Simpkins), Emily Floyd, and Sam Floyd; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Jack, Maddy, Anna, Cole, Addison, Bryn, Cooper, and Baylee; his canine companion, Cappy; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will be mourning his passing.

Born and raised in the Oregon Hill neighborhood of Richmond where he got his nickname and made many lifelong friends, Dinky went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning, he worked for many years as a master brick mason. Since the early 70's he coached Tuckahoe Little Leage, where he had the honor of leading his team to the All Star Tournament in 1971. Even many years after, former team members celebrated his contribution to their lives. If he wasn't coaching, he was fishing, something that he shared with his son and his many beloved grandchildren.

A role that he cherished the most was as the patriarch of his large family, and he enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could, and made sure they all had nicknames, just like he had growing up. He was truly a consummate husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The family will receive friends 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road, after which the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Dinky's life will take place 8:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025 at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road. Interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. Reception to follow burial at the Webber residence from 11am-12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, that family asks to donate in Dinky's memory to the Tuckahoe Sports Foundation (Tuckahoe Little League) or the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources at P.O.
