Lyda M. Cunningham

Lyda M. Cunningham, 82, of Chesterfield County, went to her heavenly home December 18, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ellis Burton Cunningham; daughters, Nina Rowan and her husband, Steve, of Virginia Beach, and Nancy Anne Cunningham of Tampa, Florida; grandson, Casey Rowan of Gretna, Virginia; two sisters, Mary Holland of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Martha Emerson of Covington, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. She worked for the government as a foods inspector during WWII, and taught elementary school for many years. She was also a realtor. Lyda was a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, and a diehard basketball fan. She was named Senior Volunteer of the Year in Chesterfield County in 2002. Lyda belonged to River Road Church, Baptist, the Innerfaith Council and was involved with Friends of the Library and Forestdale Civic Association. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at River Road Church, Baptist, River at Ridge Roads.
