Madison McKee Obituary
Madison D. McKee Jr. (Pat), 85, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002. He served as major master sergeant. during WWII where he was headquartered in General Eisenhower’s headquarters with the 82nd Airborne and was on Omaha Beach. He was called back while in the Army Reserves and served in the Korean War and worked with the CIA. Pat was a standing member of Second Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, and was a member of the choir for 18 years. He was retired from Dominion National Bank (now Wachovia) where he served as senior vice president. Pat was a recognized blood donor with the American Red Cross and many other civic organizations. Pat graduated from Washington and Lee University with the honor of Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated from Rutgers University and the University of Virginia’s Senior Bank Management Program. He taught at UVA School of Banking for ten years. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Hidden Valley Country Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Madison McKee Sr.; mother, Effie McKee; infant sister, Mary Louise; brother, Jack; sisters, Lois Long, Ruth Fleming and Kathleen Katley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frenchie McKee; daughters, Jennifer Cubitt and Rosemary Lamanca; brother, Charles Hope McKee; four granddaughters, Amy Wilkerson and husband, Rafe, Shannon Cubitt, Jennifer Lamanca, Whitney Bowles and husband, Matt; four great-grandchildren, Preston Lamanca, Christian Dye Lamanca, Madison Wilkerson and Rafe Wilkerson Jr.; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. David Randolph, Dr. Mark Schmidt, the angels of Adventa Hospice, especially Mary Stewart and Carol Orimenko for all their love and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Adventa Hospice, 1645 Apperson Drive, Salem, Va. 24153. The service of committal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2002, prior to the memorial service at Second Presbyterian Church.
