Henry Smith Obituary

Major Henry Smith III transitioned on the 15th of August 2025 at the age of 83 at his home in Irvine, CA. Our beloved Husband, Father and Veteran was called to eternal rest after a courageous battle with medical ailments this past year. He was a man of strength, discipline, and quiet dedication, whose life was marked by service, love of sport, and an unwavering commitment to family. Major was born December 4, 1941, in Richmond, Virginia was also lovingly known as Buddy to his brother and sisters. Second born child to Major Henry Smith Jr. and Willie Margaret Brown Smith of Richmond, Virginia. He has three siblings Jean Gloria Taylor (passed), James Alfred Smith and Loretta Beatrice Smith. Major leaves to cherish his life his childhood sweetheart of 65 years Helena Catherine Settles whom he married on August 24th, 1960, three daughters Simone D. Smith, Kimberly M. Smith, Paula Y. Smith and a cherished nephew Michael A. Settles. Major honorably served his country for 21 years, retiring in Alamogordo, New Mexico as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force with distinction after a career defined by leadership and sacrifice. Major chose to live a quiet life, devoting himself to the care and wellbeing of his beloved wife and daughters. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished.
