Malcolm Randolph Obituary

RANDOLPH, Malcolm Matheson, 81, of Richmond, Va., died at home on August 14, 2023. Malcolm was born on June 25, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to E. Fairfax Randolph and Margaret Matheson Randolph. He was a graduate of St. Christopher's School, attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Richmond.

Malcolm is survived by his wife, Olivia Gilliam Randolph of 56 years. He is also survived by his brother, E. Fairfax Randolph and his wife Kathee Randolph, of San Rafael, Ca. He loved his family and was very proud of his children, Olivia Randolph Waters (Woody), Margaret Randolph Pace (Ben), Beverly Randolph Campbell (Michael) and Malcolm Matheson Randolph, Jr. (Emily). He cherished his nine grandchildren who brought him such joy and fulfillment, Elizabeth Gilliam Waters, Charles Woody Waters IV, Gilliam Randolph Waters, William Benjamin Pace, Jr., Malcolm Randolph Pace, Michael McCullough Campbell, Jr., Fairfax Randolph Campbell, Olivia DeVries Randolph and Malcolm Matheson Randolph III. His family meant everything to him.

In addition to love of family, Malcolm was dedicated to his 47 years of work at Richmond Primoid, Inc., a family business founded by his father in 1947. He was generous with his time and leadership among several organizations, but he was particularly committed to the Bon Secours Richmond Healthcare Foundation where he supported a scholarship to the St. Mary's Hospital School of Practical Nursing and was involved in the development of the Bon Secours Hospice House. Additionally, Malcolm was committed to the work of Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, and was a devoted and faithful member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Although he gave time to many important causes, he always had time for practice and to play the game of golf with his favorite group, the Shankers. His other greatest pleasure was traveling on his boat, Randolphin, between Florida and Virginia with his first mate.

The Randolph family is appreciative and thankful for the compassionate people who cared for him.

A celebration of his honorable and faithful life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 21, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. A livestream of the service will be available at www.ststephensrva.org/memorialstream.
