Marc Bernstein Obituary

BERNSTEIN, Marc R., 60, of Richmond, Va., passed away on April 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Bernstein and Donna Condel; sister, Sharlene Martin; and by his daughter, Annagrace Bernstein. Marc is survived by his loving wife, Katie Bernstein; daughter, Avery Bernstein; son, Duncan Bernstein; sisters, Paula Chapman (Paul) and Candy Lent; and by his brother, Jason Bernstein (Rachael).

Marc's largest source of pride was his children, Avery and Duncan. He was the most devoted father and adored his children with all of his heart. Even though his daughter, Annagrace was only with us for a few short days, his love for her was insurmountable.

One of Marc's greatest qualities was his unmistakable laughter. His laughter was as heartwarming as it was contagious.

Marc attended Virginia Commonwealth University as an undergraduate and attended University of Richmond for graduate school. He spent his entire career working in the family business, Bernstein Enterprises in commercial real estate.

Marc was a passionate music lover. If you ever passed him on the road, you would hear either Grateful Dead or Max Creek playing from the car speakers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Bliley's – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230, where a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Interment will be private. All are invited to join the family from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. following the interment, at Legends Brewing Company 321 W 7th St., Richmond, Va. 23224, on their outside deck.

Because of Marc's love of all animals, please send memorial contributions in his memory to Richmond SPCA, or to your animal rescue organization of choice.

Marc and I attended Huguenot Academy together for 4th and 5th grades. We were close friends then. I recall he had a quirky sense of humor. He and his father were kind enough to take me to several Richmond Robins´ hockey games. We even went to a hockey game in Norfolk. I also recall some sort of Lock In at the old Cloverleaf Mall where I think his father had a La Vogue store. He was a good guy. Alas, I went to a different school beginning in the sixth grade, and we eventually fell out of touch. I was sorry to see his obituary, wanted to express my condolences. I know he will be greatly missed.

Marc rode the same bus to Huguenot Academy as my sisters and me. His nickname was Blob. I remember his curly hair and he was a nice guy.
