Marian Perkins Obituary

PERKINS, Marian Duke, 96, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. She leaves behind her husband of almost 74 years, Carl L. Perkins; two grandsons, Michael Smith (Renea) and Bradford Smith (Chereen) of Richmond, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Sean and Cora Smith; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. Marian was a lifelong educator. After graduating from Central High School in Goochland, Va., she went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Education from Virginia State College (now University) and her master's degree in Education in 1973 from the University of Virginia. Marian served Louisa County Public Schools for over 36 years before retiring in 1983. After their only child, Cecilia Perkins Smith, passed away in 1985, Marian was very involved in the upbringing of her grandsons, Michael and Bradford. She enjoyed being involved in church ministry (particularly service as the Head Clerk at County Line Baptist Church for over 40 years), out of town trips, shopping and playing cards with loved ones. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Bibb Store Road (Rt. 628), Louisa, Virginia 23093. Friends and family viewing will take place at D.D. Watson, Louisa on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. Please, friends and family only. Condolences may be offered to the family at ddwatsonlouisa.com.

To the Perkins Family; I am so sorry for your loss.
I went to high school with Cecilia at LCHS. I never forgot what a sweet person she was and her smile. May God comfort you all today and always.
