Marie Diaz Obituary

Marie Lester Diaz

Marie Lester Diaz, 92, of Richmond, Va., passed away on March 26, 2026.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Ames; and daughters, Michelle Belt (William) and Lynn Richmond (Neil). She had five grandchildren that she doted on: William Belt, Marie Belt, Ariella Richmond (Brian Walsh), Alexander Richmond, and Sam Richmond.

Marie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold and Charles; and two sisters, Lelia and Joyce. She is survived by her brother, Ray.

Marie was the loving daughter of Mattie and Charles Lester. She graduated from Manchester High School, where she was an all-state athlete in basketball, softball, and field hockey. Marie went on to a career as a top C&P Telephone Company and AT&T salesperson.

Marie loved so many things: her church and bible study; gardening (what a green thumb she had!); fishing at her river home; fashion; and her New York Yankees.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71103, or online at: shrinerschildrens.org
