Mark Whitehead Patterson

Mark Whitehead Patterson, 45, of Midlothian, died October 5, 2003 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesvile. Mark was born December 10, 1957 in Lynchburg, the son of the late William S. Patterson and the late Nancy Patterson Driskill. Mark was a 1976 graduate of E.C. Glass High School, and a 1980 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he belonged to the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed as a marketing specialist with Cottrell Communications of Richmond. Mark was also a talented artist and sports enthusiast. He was a man of strength and courage, who was an inspiration to all through his long illness. He is survived by his daughter, Madelyn Grace Patterson of Midlothian; a sister, Clarkie Featherstone of Lynchburg; two brothers, Stuart Patterson and his wife, Jodie of Williamsburg, and Tulane Patterson and his wife, Claudia of Lynchburg; and nine nieces and one nephew. A private family graveside service will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Frank Gasque Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends at 1303 Langhorne Rd., from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003.
