Martha Flippo Kurzman

KURZMAN, Martha Flippo, daughter of James Eugene and Grace Buchanan Flippo, was born June 13, 1923, and passed away January 11, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Irving Kurzman; and her daughters, Betty Jean "Jeanie" Brookman (Reuben Sr.) and Carolyn Patrick Wright (Donnie). She is survived by her son, Calvin Ruel Patrick (Martha); her grandchildren, Leigh Anne Coverstone (Neil), Melissa Grier (Doug), Brian Wright (Julie), Reuben Brookman (Tracey), Ricky Brookman (Staci), Jennifer Allen, Christopher Patrick; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. To say Martha was a character would be an understatement. Prior to quitting smoking, Martha was the originator of the unbelievably long "Martha-ash" and loved to zip around town in her hot-pink, Pontiac Parisienne. She was an avid mall-walker and enjoyed monthly trips to various entertainment venues, where she did battle with many one-armed bandits and always hid her money in her shoe. She was a lifelong member of Stockton Memorial Baptist Church and never missed a Sunday. Martha spent her twilight years at Morningside of Bellgrade where Jimia was her partner in crime, and the staff took impeccable care of her by keeping Martha's spirits high to the last minute. The stories, memories and lessons Martha exchanged will forever live in the hearts of her girls at Morningside. The family would like to recognize and thank every nurse, aide and friend she made at Morningside, Heartland Hospice, direct care hospice nurse, Jessica McKenney, and Kimberly Williams and Heather Baggett, for their never-ending compassion.
