A memorial service in honor of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 South Sycamore Street, Petersburg, Va.

My Dearest Marva Hicks-Taha,
It seemed like it was just yesterday when I met you at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA circa 1984 while I was an undergraduate at Morehouse College when you where on tour with Lena Horne. Priceless. You have always been so loving with a very kind spirit over the years as our paths continued to cross from Los Angeles to New York. I am going to miss you singing with the Broadway Inspirational Voices, but, I will rejoice because Heaven just got another lead vocalist. Sending mercy, grace and peace to your beloved husband and your entire family. Rest in Power Sweet Marva. And so it is. And it is so. Ase. Amen.

I remember first hearing about and then meeting Marva when we were in school at Howard. If memory serves me correctly, she had released her first record while still a student. We reconnected in NYC while attending a very dynamic bible study group and remained friends until I left NY. She was such a kind soul and an undeniable talent. She will be missed. Peace and blessings to Marva's family. She was an awesome singer and actress. Many of her classmates would follow her for performances and she always made time to talk with us at the end of her performance no matter how tired she may have been. She would always sing at Good Shepherd Baptist Church
when she was home. Her voice was golden and magical which
she shared with the world, so we felt special when our own Peaches sang for us. She will be missed.
