Mary Bowery Obituary

Mary Bowery

Mary Ellen Fields Bowery, born on August 2, 1946, in Richmond, VA, to James Leon Fields and Geraldine Mears Fields, peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior on September 28, 2024. She is survived by her beloved cousins Lowman Halley and his wife Jill, as well as his cousin Norma D. Halley. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law Judith Fields; her nieces Kimberly Powell, Tracey Lloyd, and Robin Rathmann; and her stepdaughter Shannon Bowery Mangum; along with their spouses and children. For 21 years, Mary shared her life with her devoted companion, Glen Johnson. His unwavering support and love were a constant source of strength and joy for her. Their relationship was a beautiful testament to the power of love, and Glen's presence brought immeasurable comfort to her. Mary's treasured friends Linda Allen Simpson, Carey Allen, and Taylor Brace will fondly remember the many memories and adventures they shared with her. These friendships, marked by loyalty, laughter, and mutual understanding, were a source of great joy and inspiration. Her absence will be felt deeply. She was preceded in death by her son, P. Blake McLean; her husband, Parker Bowery; her parents, James Leon Fields Sr. and Geraldine Fields; her brother, James Fields Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Parish. Mary devoted 26 years of her professional life to DuPont, retiring in 2009. She was an active member of both Jahnke Road Baptist Church and Webber Memorial Church, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment. Mary also took pride in her involvement with the Red Hat Society, forming enduring bonds and sharing countless joyful moments. One of Mary's greatest joys was visiting the beaches and lighthouses of the Outer Banks with loved ones. These trips created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who accompanied her.

A memorial service to celebrated Mary's life and faith will be held on October 20, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home, 6900 Hull Street Road, Chesterfield, VA. The service will bring together family and friends to honor and remember Mary. Mary's Kind spirit and unwavering faith will be forever cherished by all who knew her. Her family extends special thanks to CAN Kia Hewlett for her exceptional care and compassion, treating Mary like family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations in Mary's name to the Chesterfield Food Bank (12211 Iron Bridge Road, Chester, VA 23831, EIN: 45-5454945) or the Tunnel to Towers Foundations (2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306. EIN: 02-0554654). These organizations were dear to her heart, and your contributions will carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity. Mary's family and friends find peace knowing she now rests in the love and grace of her lord and Savior.

Mary´s Family, Mary and I bonded when her husband and my mother were in the same nursing facility. We shared many stories.
Sometimes laughing and crying together. We would correspond on Facebook messenger sometimes. I also knew her from DuPont. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Her friend Frances Bell.

I worked with Mary for years at a former Trucking company. I had no idea she was so ill. She will be missed more than words May express. I'm so sorry I didn't do more to gather friends from the early days just to have a meal together and remember those good ole days. Love you Mary
