GUYTON, Mary Lynn (Mimi), of Henrico, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 22, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, Earnest Linwood Guyton Sr. and Edna Roberson Guyton.

Left to cherish Mary's memory are her siblings, Claudia Guyton Wells, Julie Guyton Matthews, and Earnest Linwood Guyton Jr.; nieces, Dr. Meagan Cogbill and Brooke Canady (Ben), Rachel Matthews; nephews, Justin Daniels and Hunter Matthews (Lizzie). Mimi enjoyed reading, theater, travel, and the finer things of life. She loved cats including her past babies, Queenie, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger.

She lived in Scotland for two years and traveled to South Africa, Morroco, Paris, Bahamas, Rome, and all over Europe. She was a 1965 graduate of Hermitage H.S. She spent her freshman year at The University of Tennessee and graduated from RPI (presently VCU). She retired from the C&P Telephone and also VRS retirement system. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Woody Parham, on Thursday, July 27, at 1 p.m. Interment will be private in Westhampton Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the memory care unit at Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End for their five years of exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd. #130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

I was very sorry and surprised to learn of Mary Lynn´s death. Our families were neighbors in Lakeside when she and I were in elementary school and our parents remained friends until their deaths. I remember her wonderful smile and what a lovely person she was. Requiescat in pace.

It hit me hard hearing of Mimi’s passing.
She was a sweet, kind and generous woman. She also had a good sense of humor. I can hear her laugh now. I always felt good being around her. I loved her.

My first memories of Mimi was when I was about 6 and MiMi about 16. I would be visiting with her sister, Julie. I was in awe of Mimi, always so pretty, sweet, friendly, and going on dates!! Through the years, each time I would see her, she was always elegant and bright. She could not have been more adored by her Momma, Daddy, sisters, and brother. She was a wonderful older sister and friend. I always love to hear about her and the Guyton Family from my dear friend, Julie. I´m so blessed to know the Guyton Family. Our most sincere condolences to the Guyton family. Mimi was my sweet godmother and my mother, Roberta Manning`s (Robbie Arvin), best friend until my mother passed at 42 years young back in the late 1980´s. And Mimi was part of our family and they were friends since they were seven or eight years old I believe. Mimi was always there for my mother over the years and my sister and me too. She was truly one of the sweetest human beings a person could ever wish to know. She knitted us scarves, hats and embroidered my favorite Jean jacket with a hippie sunrise pictured on the back of it (when I was Just five or six years old). I really cherished that jacket and wore it for years afterwards even though it didn´t fit me properly. She was truly specializing, I remember her soft and kind demeanor. She was a cat person for sure, with those four-legged best friends of hers, Queenie, Keith, Richards, and Mick Jagger, they were the best cats. Thank you for being such an amazing and loving friend to our mother. She loved you dearly Mimi and you were always there for her. you were truly her Bestie! You were an awesome godmother too.
