Mary Knight Obituary
October 19, 1933 - November 8, 2024
Mary Lois Knight passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, in her residence at the Knolls of Oxford, in Oxford, Ohio. She was born on October 19, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia to Kathleen Kimball Snyder Gilliam and Dr. Robert Lindsay Gilliam II. Mary met James Riley Knight, Jr. (Jimmy) from Pontotoc, Mississippi, and they were married in Union City, Tennessee on June 25, 1955. After living for several years in Flandreau, South Dakota, the family made their home in Warsaw, Virginia. Jimmy and Mary Lois established a dental practice in Warsaw that would serve the town for over thirty years. They became faithful and active members of Warsaw United Methodist Church. Her passion was gardening; she took great pride in her beautiful gardens. In 2021, she moved to Oxford, Ohio, and lived her last years there.Mary Lois is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James "Jimmy" Riley Knight, Jr.; brother, Robert "Bobby" L. Gilliam II ; and many dear friends. She is survived by her daughters, Cary Elizabeth Greenland (Ron) and Kathleen Knight Abowitz (Rob); her son, Robert Edwin Knight; and her four beloved grandchildren. A funeral service for Mary will be held at Warsaw United Methodist Church on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
