Mary Louise Lukhard

Mary Louise Lukhard passed away on July 21, 2004 after a long and valiant fight with Parkinson's Disease. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hughes Ragland of Danville, Va. She is survived by her husband, William Lee Lukhard Sr. to whom she was a loving wife for 49 years. Mrs. Lukhard had a strong love for her family and is survived by three sons, Ralph C. Lukhard and wife, Karen of Richmond, William L. Lukhard Jr. and wife, Anne of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert E. Lukhard and wife, Melinda of Richmond; and one daughter, Elizabeth L. Rathburn and husband, Arthur of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. She was ever loving "Nannie" to seven grandchildren, Clinton and Johanna Lukhard, Daniel and Emily Lukhard, Wade Childrey, and Christina and Megan Lukhard. She has a surviving sister, Eleanor Newnam; brother, Edwin Ragland Jr.; three nephews, and a niece. She was a registered nurse and an alumnus of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Welborne United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., where services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
