Joan Elizabeth Lukhard

Joan Elizabeth (Root) Lukhard, 94, of Dresher, PA passed away on February 22nd, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late Howard W. Lukhard. Joan was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 16, 1931, to the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Thierjung) Root. She was a bank teller for many years. Joan was strong and independent and always had a listening ear and gave good advice to others. She was always welcoming to her neighbors and to others in her community. She was proud to be an American. She loved her plants and watching birds. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Joan is survived by her children Mark Lukhard (Cheryl), Craig Lukhard (late Margaret), Brian Lukhard (Angie), her grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Kevin, Melissa, Amanda, Jamie, Logan, her great-grandchildren Henry, Margaret, Wells, expected great granddaughter Elaine Joan, her sister Susan Root, and her loving dog Toby.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 10:00AM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Funeral Homes and Crematory, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. A viewing will be held from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed at 10:00AM at the Ciavarelli Funeral Homes Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100054523056619. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
