Mary Vaughan Bliley Utter

Mary Vaughn Bliley Utter, beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, died September 9, 2024, at the age of 61. Mary Vaughn was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. and Mary Virginia Kelley Bliley; and her brother, Thomas J. "Jerry" Bliley, III.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph G. Utter, Jr.; daughters, Jennifer Davies Vick (Shad) and Mary Kathryn Davies Lawson (Robert); stepson, Joseph Utter, III (Sam); grandchildren, Christian, Aiden 'N', Aiden 'J', Max and Emma; and nephews, Thomas J. Bliley, IV (Shannon), and Shawn Bliley (Lauren); and countless cousins and friends.

Mary Vaughn was a graduate of St. Gertrude's High School.

She loved helping people. As a young girl she volunteered with the local rescue squad, leading her to a career in health care, culminating at VCU Health Systems as a Trauma Specialist.

Mary Vaughn never met a stranger and lived life on her own terms. She was known for her determined spirit and infectious laugh. She sought the good in all and the fun in every situation.

She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends, and especially her "fur grand babies" and "Poker Family."

She will be missed by all who were graced to be in her world.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., with a time of reflection and sharing of memories at 6 p.m., on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
