WRIGHT, Mary Elizabeth Farrar, affectionately known as Betty, 95, of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie Farrar; husband, Hugh Turman Wright Jr.; her brothers and sisters, Walter Farrar, George Farrar Jr., Barbara Wilkinson, and Nellie Tye; son-in-law, Jim Lann; and her beloved daughter, Amy Curnutt. She is survived by her 5 children, Linda McAllister, Forrest Reid Jr. (Nancy), Debra Lann, and Michael Reid (Karen); and son-in-law, Steve Curnutt. Betty had 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all of whom were very special to her and touched her life in many ways: Grandchildren, Eric Jewell, Meridith Mangigian (Brett), Ryan Reid, Jessica Seay (Will), and Brooke Curnutt; and great-grandchildren: Damian Kelley, Avery Mangigian, Everett Mangigian, and Hazel Seay. Betty worked in administration at Henrico High School beginning in 1985 until her retirement in 2002, where she then dedicated her spare time to VFW Post 9808 as treasurer until her final retirement in 2010. She remained an active member at VFW Post 9808 taking on many roles in the Ladies Auxiliary; from working BINGO nights, to cash collecting during Tuesday night dinners at the VFW. Betty was a strong-willed woman who loved her family and friends and will be missed by many. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, at 10:30 a.m., at the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, 7356 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a small reception taking place afterwards.
