Matthew Ballard Bruffey

Matthew Ballard Bruffey, age 42, of Bumpass, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003. He was the loving husband of Teri Michele Bruffey and devoted father to his children, Rachael Michele Bruffey and Matthew Brian Bruffey. He is also survived by his mother, Dixie Lee Bruffey Ledford and her husband, Richard A. Ledford; his older sister, Donna Lee Bruffey; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ballard Bruffey Jr. Matt and his wife, Teri, have owned and operated Crystal Ice Co. in Richmond for the past 20 years. They also own Thunder Hill Farm in Bumpass, Va., where they raise and train thoroughbred race horses. Matt was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America, Troops 182 and 184 in Louisa, Va. Matt had many interests and was considered an expert on Hot Wheel and Matchbox collectibles. Matt and his family loved the beach. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Staples Mill chapel, where funeral services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Dr. Gaskins of North Run Baptist Church officiating.
