Meriam Slater Obituary

SLATER, Meriam Beauchamp, 81, of Midlothian, VA went peacefully to be with the Lord on May 30, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nina Beauchamp. She is survived by her loving husband, of 36 years, George "Len" Slater; her children, Jeff (Beth) Slater, Jennifer (Jim) Parnell, Tracey (John) Tate, and April (Andrew) Thompson; her sister, Nina (Jim) Minmier; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four nieces. Meriam, was known as Tootie, Gma, and Mimi to most of her loved ones. She was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, care giver, and friend. Meriam dedicated her life to her family, friends and community, she never met a stranger. Meriam was creative and entrepreneurial, she owned two businesses in her life and had a flair for decorating and interior design. She loved yard sales, antiques and was always working on a project. Meriam was a fabulous cook, she was always trying new recipes and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her home was always warm, welcoming, full of food and stylishly decorated for every season, holiday or occasion. Meriam's positive and joyful personality was contagious, she was excited and happy for everyone's accomplishments. Meriam was a cheerleader for her loved ones, she was also a safe place for everyone in their times of need. Meriam was energetic and enthusiastic, she was full of jokes, and always ready for the next adventure. Whether it was spending time at the beach with the love of her life, Len, supporting her children and grandchildren at their academic and sporting events, or vacationing with her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing and was the life of the party. Meriam loved all animals, she especially enjoyed having a cat or two. Her last cat, G.T., named after her favorite cocktail, was a loved member of the family. Meriam had a competitive spirit, but only when playing games. She was a great tennis player, skilled bridge and canasta player. Meriam always had a seat open for anyone to play cards, dominoes, or board games with her. Meriam was genuinely kind to all. She was sunshine! Meriam will be adoringly remembered for her radiant smile and infectious laugh! Meriam was an extraordinary woman, a true beauty inside and out.
