Mike, I can hardly believe it's almost 16 years ago that you passed away from this earth. The picture I took of you on my balcony still pops up in my head often. You were such a good, good friend and you are missed.

Such a great friend to so many.

Mike, it's 12 years now since you left this earth, but you are still remembered and so missed. I found this photo of you on my balcony on June 2, 2007, taking a break at the end of the day and passing the time with me and a couple of other friends you'd known for years. I love this picture because it shows the absolute goodness of your heart and soul.

We want to express our deepest sympathy in the lost of a great individual. Mike always had a smile and a joke for everybody he met. I feel like I lost a brother, and he will be sincerely missed.

I have known Mike since I was a about 13 years old; I am now 38. Over the past twenty five years I have come to realize that Mike was truly a very special person. I have seen two wonderful qualities in Mike that in my mind makes him very special indeed. The first is that Mike never knew a stranger. No matter the age, race, creed, gender, religion or social status; Mike was sure to strike up a conversation. Mike was always very friendly and courteous. The second quality of Mike was his uncanny ability to make others around him smile and laugh. Even on your worst day, Mike at the very least would get you to grin. I have many memories of Mike but the most memorable was a night where I invited him in my home for supper. Very simple supper: Nathan's Hot Dogs and homemade cajun fries. I think Mike took two bites from the hotdog and ate two pounds of fries. I didn't think they were all that but Mike raved over them. After eating my son who at the time was 4 years old wanted to fly a new kite that he had just received. I told him that it wasn't a good idea for the wind wasn't blowing. Mike got involved and insisted on trying. Picture a grown man in work boots, blue jeans, and a flannel shirt with a long john's under shirt running full speed up and down a two acre lot trying to create enough wind to fly a kite while being chased by a four year old. After numerous attempts, the kite finally flew; high in the sky. In the end a four year old was very excited, happy and smiling. Myself and Mikes brother Wayne were laughing watching them two go. I don't think I will ever be able to see a kite flying high in the sky again without thinking of my friend Mike C. Austin. I love you Mike and will miss you. Thank You for the many laughs as I am hopeful that peace has found you in Jesus arms.

Mike will be sorely missed. I have some good memories of him at Wayne's and helping me work on Butch's house. He would often leave me with my gut hurting from laughing so hard. He had a great sense of humor and a keen wit. My heart goes out to his entire family.

Mike was my brother-in-law.However, in hearts, we were truly brother and sister! He would literally take the shirt off his back and give it to you if he thought you needed it more than he did.One may have called him the breeze, he kept rolling down the road! He was DEFINITELY loved by all who ever knew him!!!!

Mike, When I moved to Fox Rest a year ago it was with a broken heart, my marriage was over and I had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. ONLY you could have made me smile moving into that apartment that day and Lord knows you did. There wasnt a time I needed something that you weren't there. Of course the promise of homemade applebutter seemed to get you there just a little quicker. I will miss our talks as you rode around nightly with Scoot (yea the secret is out my friend) May you find applebutter in heaven Mike and may you smile down on us and push us on those days we can't pull ourselves. You were a man among men and my heart is shattered by this. Enjoy that mountaintop my friend. I will see you soon.

I sincerely hope and pray that in time the pain of his loss can be replaced by the good memories of his life and the lives he touched.

There are no words to express the sadness I feel for the loss of Mike. I knew him for only 3 yrs but during this time he became a true friend. I don't think I've ever known a man that loved his family and friends more than he did and he expressed that very openly to all. I will miss him more than words can say. Sheila, Becky & Sara, I send my love to you and all of Mike's family. Mike was the finest and most upstanding of men and of that you can be very, very proud. I still think of him every day and expect at any moment to hear him either at the door or see him waving from his golf cart. This is a huge loss for everyone. He was so, so loved.

First of all I would like to express my condolences to the Austin family. Mike was a very special man at Fox Rest Apts. He was always willing to help no matter what and he always did it with a smile on his face. Even if it was on his day off or after hours. I only new him for a short period of time, but it seems like a lifetime to me. I will truly miss not seeing him in the Fox Rest office every morning or talking to him through out the day.

I am glad to be the very first person to sign this guest book for Mike. There is no words to describe how good of a man he was. I am heart broken at the loss of such a wonderful soul. My son loved Mike to death and when we lived at Fox Rest Mike used to ride him around in this golf cart. I have known Mike for about 10 years now and there is no better man out here like him. A wonderful soul has been lost..He will never be forgotten...May his soul rest in peace now...God speed my friend
