I had the privilege of meeting Michael Brooks in 2000 while teaching at John Marshall High School. Over time, he became much more than just a colleague to me. Brooks was my mentor, neighbor, friend, and confidant. He was an excellent English teacher who respected his colleagues and students. Brooks was a kindhearted, compassionate, and generous man with great humor. He was always there to advise his family, my family, and friends when they needed it. My admiration for Brooks grew even further when I observed him caring for his mother weekly. I will miss him terribly, but I take comfort in the fact that the love he shared will always be with me.

What an awesome man, teacher and colleague. I first met Mr. Brooks running track with the West End Striders where he´d be there cheering for Mike, Jr. While a student at JM, he was my English teacher. Mr. Brooks was so smooth and his smile would light up the classroom. Later on, I had the privilege of working with him when I returned to JM. Mr. Brooks was a great man with a big heart and will be truly missed. I will keep his family lifted in prayer.
