Michael Clark Obituary

CLARK, Michael Edward, born in Morgantown, West Virginia on July 31, 1952, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024 while holding the hand of the love of his life, Melissa. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen V. Clark, his father Clarence E. Clark, his son-in-law, Christopher P. Lahocki and his beloved dogs, Lucy and Miami.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa L. Clark and children, Katy C. Meier (Jeremy), Jennifer L. Lahocki and Jacob M. Clark, and grandchildren, Olivia A. Meier, Rory P. Meier, Emerson A. Lahocki and Everly M. Lahocki. He is also survived by a brother, John L. Clark (Libby) and sister, Cathy Morgan (Bill). Also surviving him are a myriad of calligraphers worldwide that he personally mentored, tracked and remained loyal to right up until his last days.

Michael had three loves, God, family and calligraphy. He often combined those loves when he created his masterpieces. Each of his children has a typeface created specifically for them when they were born.

Per Michael's wishes, there will be no service at this time. He will be cremated, with his ashes scattered across the Hatteras beaches and off the Ocracoke ferry. Those were his happy places where he found his personal peace.

Donations can be made in his name to: American Parkinson Disease Association,

P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306.

Michael touched my life so deeply. Though I never actually met him (in person).

I was a newlywed, the internet was a new 'thingy' and I googled something that landed me at his "phone number". There was no website, just typerror! I was an entrepreneur (a calligrapher in another life) and I was looking for someone to - help me figure things out. I wanted something professional! And that's exactly what I got. Off of one amazing conversation, Michael created a logo that will stand the test of time. I was poor, broke and completely ignorant to how much something like this would cost. I was also jobless. I'm pretty sure he did it in 5 mins. while we were on the phone. He didn't ask me my budget, he just executed through the Holy Spirit and cut me a deal. When he sent me the design I felt like I could do anything! It WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!! I later found out I would have never been able to afford him and I was soooo thankful he was so kind. Michael shared with me some of his adventures in design and I later shared with him how broke I was. He said he never would have charged me and I told him I would have paid more! I still use my logo to this day. I now create for a living. Nothing, NOTHING compared to the caliber of what Michael brought to life with his pen, but he definitely was one of my biggest cheerleaders. Michael checked on me often, every year or so for the past 17 years. Through the birth of my children, my military travels and him sharing his health challenges, he was an angle sent by God to help me in this life. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. Condolences and love to the Clark family.
