Mildred Mantlo Obituary

Mildred Mantlo

June 29, 1929 - August 13, 2024

Mantlo, Mildred Goodman, "Puchie" and "Janie", age 95, claimed God's promise on August 13, 2024. She was the only child of Gladys B. and Ryland J. Goodman. Born on a Hanover tomato farm on June 29, 1929. She lived within 100 yards of this farm most of her life. She was the widow of G. Brinkley Mantlo, and they were married for 58 years. She graduated from Battlefield Park High School in 1947, where she was president and salutatorian of her class. Upon graduation, she attended RPI (now VCU). She was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where she served as clerk for 25 years, taught the Fidelis Sunday school class for 70 years, and was active in WMU. She retired from AAA of Virginia with 33 years of service and was a member of HRWC. There are no immediate survivors, only cousins, Margaret, Suellen, Lisa, Jew, and Jimmy. She was blessed by God in her life by Allen and Nancy King, David and Darlene Higgins, Ron and Marilyn Collins, and Greg and Dawn Parker. She wishes to thank all her Christian friends at Black Creek and thank God for his love and grace. "Puchie" and her family and caregivers wish to express their most sincere thanks to the caring nurses and staff at Covenant Woods Assisted Living, who made her last year so special for all of us.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Black Creek Baptist Church in the old chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the new chapel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Black Creek Baptist Church.
