Miriam Bailey Obituary
She lovingly devoted the last two years of her life as a caring companion to her sister in Nanuet, New York.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger M. Bailey Sr.; parents, Armstead T. and Nannie P. Thompkins; four brothers and four sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Roger M. Bailey Jr. (Karren), Nannette A. Bailey and Jeanette Bailey Woods (Maurice); grandson, Ryan Bailey; and great-granddaughter, Londyn; a sister, Emily Thompkins Blue; a devoted niece, Yvonne Jones; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her sister's healthcare workers who saw her as a "care partner."
Miriam graduated from St. Phillip School of Nursing and retired as a Registered Nurse from MCV. She dedicated her life to serving others, especially her family, which was exhibited until her passing through her devotion to and support of her sister.
Miriam was a faithful member of All Souls Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She later joined Overbrook Presbyterian Church. She was involved in numerous organizations including Presbyterian Women United, Interfaith Council of Greater Richmond (President, 2000-01) and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling with her family and sister, Emily.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at Overbrook Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 2605 Dumbarton Road, Richmond, Va. 23228. To the family of Miriam Bailey. My deepest sincere sympathy to you all. I just found out today that Mrs. Bailey passed away when I tried to find her phone number. I had been sick with Covid but I pulled through. I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Mrs. Bailey through my Foster Parents Lamar and Ruthmary Williamson who were members of All Souls Presbyterian until they moved to Montreal North Carolina in 1992. They both have since passed away. Mrs. Bailey will be missed very much by everyone who knew her and loved her. The last time I saw her was 10 years ago at a Diabetic support group meeting.
