Nancy Tyler Obituary

Nancy M. Tyler

May 23, 1935 - January 5, 2026

Nancy M. Tyler passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. She celebrated her 90th birthday in May. She was the only child of Oren W. Gunnet, MD, Ruth Brumbaugh Gunnet, and stepmother, Beulah Myers Gunnet. She grew up in the town of Jefferson, Pa., where her father was the town doctor. She attended Hood College and graduated in 1956, with lifelong friends, a degree in Home Economics and a teaching certificate. She married Franklin A. Tyler, Jr. in 1962 in a snowstorm and they were together until his death in 2000. She is survived by their daughter, Nancy Lee Tyler.

She worked at Johns Hopkins in the early years of what became their Child Life program. She was a Kindergarten teacher, a homemaker, and a medical office receptionist. Nancy was a world traveler, she loved swimming and music, especially the piano. She was a great wife and mom. Nancy had a love for the Lord, family, friends, neighbors, and her many pets. We will always miss her.

There will be a Memorial Service for Nancy at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 9800 W.
