Patrick O'Brien Obituary
Patrick Lawrence O'Brien, 87, of Glen Allen, VA, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 20, 1938, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Leonard O'Brien and Essie Louise (Hay) O'Brien. As a youth, he enjoyed swimming in the ocean, playing cricket with his friends and visiting his family in the countryside.
He attended the prestigious Wolmer's Boys' School, founded in 1729. After graduation, he migrated to America where he attended college and began working at a local McDonald's restaurant. Eventually, he worked his way up to working for corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
After much hard work, by the age of 40, he became a McDonald's franchise owner. He successfully ran three McDonald's franchises in the Richmond area.
He is survived by his sons, Sean, Barry and Vijay; his daughters, Sylvia and Monique; his sons-in-law, Nathan and Edward; and daughter-in-law Amy. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Graham, Clark, Brooks, Grace, Vivian, Penny, Blake, Clare, Hannah and a tenth grandchild on the way.
A funeral service will take place on August 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA 23060, followed by interment at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 11220 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059.

Our sincer condolences to the family of Pat O 'Brien Your dad was a great person. Will never forget how much he help my husband and myself when we first move to VA. He invited us to stay at his home until we found an apartment. May God bless and keep him in the lord's house. RIP
