Queen Archer Obituary

ARCHER, Queen Estelle, affectionally known as "Grammie, Grandma and Mommy," was born September 10, 1931. Queen gained her angel wings May 29, 2023. She will be welcomed into Heaven's Gates by Robert Archer Sr. (husband); Estelle Harris (grandmother); Mamie Sayles (mother); James Sayles (brother); Deborah Braxton (daughter); Tanya Archer (daughter); Franklyn Archer Jr. (grandson); and Micah Archer (great-grandson). Queen was a master seamstress, dedicated church member, caregiver of many and the "Queen of spades." She had a heart for hospitality, enjoyed puzzles and above all, holidays with a house full of family. The louder the noise, the more she smiled. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To everyone who knew her, she left an everlasting impression. She served in the choir, on the deaconess board, as the church secretary, on the hospitality committee as well as on the usher board and was a loving mentor. She was a childhood member of Second Antioch Church in Powhatan and was awarded many church accolades. She could be seen driving fast down Halifax Avenue, to catch her soap operas or sitting on her front porch in the sun. In her home she naturally taught others how to cook, nourishing everyone with her food and sharing her expertise. She is survived by Robert Archer Jr. (Kathy); Franklyn Archer (Lybia); Audrey Lewis; Sophronia Faulkner (Tony); grands, great-grands, loving sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted family and friends; Nicole Lightfoot, one of her dedicated caregivers. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Star Fellowship Baptist Church, 2223 Keswick Ave. Interment Maury Cemetery.

I met Mrs. Archer back in the late 80's; I would sometimes take & pick up Tra Carter for daycare in her home. I remembered her as having a beautiful spirit, very loving and caring. I remained good friends with Robert, Jr. & Kathy. Mrs. Archer will be a missing piece for a short while, until she greet those left behind on the other side. Believe me, she will miss each of you, but glad to be where she is right now! Picture this: A football field with a table 3 times it length. There are people seated on both sides, no one is talking as they look from side to side. God is seated at the head of the table, he rises and goes to the door. He opens the door, and there stood Mrs. Queen Archer, raising both hands to the sides of her face in amazement! She saw God first, then all of those who had gone before her. Be blessed, may you find peace!
