Quincy Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Quincy C. "Tuck", of Ashland, VA, passed away peacefully at his home, June 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gracie Wingfield Davis and Quincy Thomas Davis, Jr.; and by his beloved wife, Arlene Henley Davis.

He is survived by his two devoted children, Catherine Dawn Davis (Andrew) Baker and Michael Wingfield (Corey) Davis. He was a dedicated and joyful Grampie and "Boo Boo" to his four grandchildren, Mary Katherine Penland, William Andrew Penland, Lewis Byron Davis and Evangeline Rose Davis, who miss him dearly.

Tuck was born and raised in Hanover County, VA, surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from Henry Clay High School and completed his education at Richmond Polytechnical Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), studying commercial art. After a brief stint in civil service, Tuck owned his own advertising business working with an array of talented artists and professionals and creating artwork and advertising campaigns for numerous local businesses. He truly lived the saying "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life," commenting often that his long and successful career never felt like work for him.

He met and fell for Arlene in high school, later designing and building their dream home together in Hanover, where they raised their children. He loved art, music, travel, good food and good whisky. Tuck was an observer, an artist, and an independent thinker. He was his own man, and he had a wicked sense of humor to the very end. He remains an inspiration of calm steadfastness to his family, through whom he lives on.

The family plans a private burial. Those who would like to honor Tuck's memory may join them for a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center in Ashland, VA.

All my love to Dawn, Andrew, Mike and Corey and the grandkids. My memories of Tuck would fill a volume. What a kind man who had the best wit of anyone I´ve met. It was always followed by a devilish smile. The perfect person to teach me about scotch! Love and hugs to all of you. X

I loved Tuck´s wit and keen sense of humor and how he and Mother would laugh together over something totally "out" there!!
Tuck will certainly be missed, and yes, prayerfully the family will find some comfort knowing Arlene and Tuck are together again and in Jesus´ care
Sending love and condolences to the family. Rita and Fred
