Mr. Parrish also sold me my “First” car - I was right out of college – I had got a good job and was ready to make my first big purchase - My Daddy told me I needed to talk to Raymond because he would take care of me. Well! Me being young I had to shop around – big mistake! I encountered pushy sales people and once they found out I had no credit they would not even talk to me without a co-signer. Once again my dad said lets talk to Raymond - this time we did and I walked out with a brand new 97’ Mustang 5.0 fully loaded. Mr. Parrish took my credit application and said ok the car is yours - I asked why did I not have to have a co-signer? -- he told me he had dealt with my parents for over 15 years and my word and family values were all he need to give me credit. Since that day my husband and I have purchased another 4 vehicles from Mr. Parrish and we never shopped around because we knew he would take care of us. Raymond will be missed by so many. We will all miss that hello, how are you doing and how is the family. May you find comfort in God during this difficult time - God bless

I'll never forget buying my first car from Raymond - a 1980 Ford Pinto Hatchback. I was just out of high school and was to begin a job in two weeks and needed a car. My Dad and I went down to the dealership and looked at the car on a Thursday night. Raymond didn't say much about the car - wasn't pushy like the last salesman I had talked with in Richmond.

The next day, we were back and Raymond sold me the car and processed the financial papers. He put the car in my name alone - didn't even ask for a co-signer. I'll never forget looking at my Dad and saying - "Mr. Parrish has sold me a car and I haven't even started working yet."

I was so impressed by his trust in me and his appreciation of the customer - a kid fresh out of high school. They say first impressions are lasting. I think it was that first impression that brought me back to buy another 5 Ford vehicles.

I commented to Raymond one day about the fact that he was not a pushy salesman. He told me that good cars sell themselves - they really didn't need him to do it. He was a man of integrity and humbleness. Every time I saw him, he always made a point of asking about my parents; he expressed sympathy at the loss of my father and continued to ask how my mother was doing after his death.

Raymond was a class act!!!!. We will miss him.

Brenda, Ray, Angela & Hank - I pray that God will hold you gently and lovingly in the palm of his hand in the days ahead and provide you with his grace in a mighty way. God Bless.

My sincerest condolences to your entire family. Having grown up in Goochland, I have known Raymond all my life. I cannot begin to express the since of pride I felt buying my first brand new car from your family's dealership and then our first family vehicle last year. It was truly an honor to have him and Brenda attend our wedding, just two short years ago. Raymond was a stellar example of integrity, leadership and dignity. May his legacy live on.

Raymond was one of the most sweetest and endearing individuals I've ever known. I always declared that he was the only person I would deal with at Parrish Motor Company. After buying four cars from him and knowing him since I was about 5 years of age, I know how deeply missed he will be to all...both his family and friends. Many thoughts and prayers to the family and I love all of you. I concur with another writer on here, if the angels in heaven are driving, they will soon have a set of keys to a Ford in their hands.

Lloyd wanted me to express his deepest sympathy and, even though he is unable to attend the funeral, Raymond was his special friend at GHS. He holds close the memories then and since as a client. He became very anxious at learning of Raymond's passing, but he knows he lived a christian life. He is very proud of Raymond's many achievements. N. Denby

I am so sorry for your loss. Raymond was a wonderful person and will be missed by many people. It was always a pleasure just to hear him say good morning. I am sure it will not be long before all the angles will be driving new Ford automobiles.

Truly (T.G.) Hammock Jr.

August 5, 2003

My heart felt sympathy to family and friends. I was one of many loyal customers whom Mr. Parrish served over the last 15 years. All 3 of my 4 kids had the pleasure of purchasing their first new vehicle from him and my 4th was coming by this week to experience the pleasure. I am so grateful of this experience, not only professional but mostly from the kindness and warm feeling he displayed when he met with you. You knew it was not a show but true feelings that made him and the people around him feel good. All 6 new vehicles I bought was just like the first one. Mr. Parrish made you feel like you were important and special and I also spoke of him as my friend even though it was on a business level. To the ones who never had the opportunity to meet him, I am sorry, to the ones who knew him, feel honored, to the family he always spoke about, praise God for the the time you shared with him as he was truly a 'special person'.
