Richard Baird Obituary

BAIRD, Mr. Richard Lee, age 85, of Blackridge, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Community Memorial Healthcenter. He was a WWll Navy veteran, a retired U. S. Postal Clerk, a past president and life member of the South Brunswick Ruritan Club, a past treasurer and superintendent of the former Tabernacle United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post 79 a former Boy Scout Troop 40 Scoutmaster, a long time member of the Virginia Historical Society and a charter member of the Old Brunswick Camp #512 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Baird is survived by his wife, Celia Edwards Baird; two sons, Richard L. "Dickie" Baird Jr. of Bon Air and James Keith Baird of Blackridge; two grandchildren, James Brandon Baird of South Hill and Dana L. Via and her husband, Todd of Roanoke; a great-grandson, Evan Thomas Baird of Meredithville; two sisters, Lucille Lucy of Henrico, N.C. and Otine Tatum of Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment in Canaan Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canaan Cemetery Association, 1218 Tanglewood Drive, South Hill, Va. 23970 Online condolences to www.crowderhitecrews.com.
