Richard Cunningham Obituary

Richard Russell Cunningham, Jr.

Richard Russell Cunningham, Jr., 68, of Midlothian, Va., went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born on March 11, 1957, Richard was the son of the late Richard and Mary Cunningham. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Habansky Cunningham; and their four children, Katie Finn (Brian), Kellyn Hubley (Jeff), Richard Cunningham III (Ashley), and Stephen Cunningham (Jessica). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; his sister, Janet Cole; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Richard graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 1975 and went on to establish several successful businesses, including C&L Plumbing, Inc., White Glove Plumbing, Heating & Air, and Crooked Creek Farm. He poured his energy and passion into the things he loved and believed in and was an active member of his church and hunt club. He enjoyed golf, classic westerns, cooking, and most of all, spending time at the Farm and Lake Gaston with his family and many lifelong friends.

Known for his strong work ethic, quiet generosity, and unwavering loyalty, Richard was a man you could always count on. A visionary and problem solver, he offered help without being asked and never sought recognition. He was a trustworthy friend, a steadfast provider for his beloved wife and family, and a man whose life was marked by quiet faith and a servant's heart: ready, willing and able to be the hands and feet of Jesus to all. His reward awaited him as he met Jesus.

A visitation with the family will be held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Chester, Va., on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. A service to honor his life will take place at Parkway Baptist Church in Moseley, Va., on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, August 8, 2025, with a procession departing from the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m.
