Richard Duckhardt Obituary

Richard Woodson Duckhardt Sr., 75, of Glen Allen, died Monday, August 15, 2005. Dick is survived by Jeannette, with whom he shared a life of love and joy for 38 years; three sons, Richard W. Duckhardt Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Powhatan and Harold and Jerry Jones of Glen Allen; his grandchildren, Anna Rachael Duckhardt of Richmond, Sherry and Joshua Jones, Steven Smith and Jerry Wayne Jones Jr. and his wife, Melissa, and his son, Justin; two brothers, William Charles Duckhardt and his wife, Ray, of Tampa, Fla. and Donald Frederick Duckhardt of Richmond; a sister, Rosemary and her husband, Gil Whittington, of Tappahannock. In 1978 with a love for antiques and collectibles, the couple established Dick and Jeannette's Antiques, where you would find the pair enjoying their hobby and working with sons, Harold and Jerry. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to Beale Memorial Baptist Church, New Building Fund, P.O. Box 816, Tappahannock, Va. 22560.

Dick was good neighbor and friend to both Shirley and I. His love for his family and his hobby is truly admirable, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. God bless Jeanette and her family and help keep them strong thru this time of sorrow.
