Richard Via Obituary

VIA, Richard Clinton, 92, of Richmond, joined his beloved bride, Rosemary Cook Via, in Heaven on March 4, 2022. Richard was born in Spray, N.C. (now Eden, N.C.) on March 27, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Farmer Via and Harrison George Via; younger brother, Ralph Harrison Via; and his wife, Rosemary Cook Via. Richard leaves behind two daughters, Karen Elizabeth Via Dunnavant (Dennis) and Valerie Jean Via Saunders; five grandchildren, Rachel Grace Kelly, Daniel Seth Dunnavant, Harrison Joel Dunnavant, Leah Michelle Spiller and Sean William Spiller; and three great-grandchildren, Brenna Elise Kelly, Elijah Grayson Kelly and Thea Rose Dunnavant.

Richard was a graduate of Leaksville High School and the University of Richmond. He loved to study the Bible and teach God's word. Richard was also a gifted guitarist and enjoyed playing at home, church and several nursing homes.

Radio captured Richard's attention at a young age and he worked at many different radio stations from North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Worthington, Ohio. Positions included announcing, sales, manager and part-owner.

Richard leaves a legacy of strong Christian faith, perseverance, kindness, love, humor and gratitude. All who knew him were blessed and encouraged.

A memorial service will be held for Richard at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Carlisle Avenue Gospel Chapel, 2506 Carlisle Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23231.
