Dear Gale and Bill: I am at a loss for words. After seeing you and Bill on Saturday evening, smiling and enjoying the forum, I knew that God was totally in control of your circumstances. I can't even imagine what the last few months must have been like. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are just so sorry for your loss.

Mrs Cushing, Words can not possibly express how sad we are about the death of your son. i think about you often and am holding you and the people touched by the lives of your beautiful children gently in my prayers. Dear Gale and Bill,
News of Robbie reached me through our son Anthony. I shared the time I knew him and the sweet boy he always was. He told me they worked together at CC's pizzeria and what a great person he was to work with. It amazes me how intertwined our lives are.
Robbie has touched the lives of more people that we will ever know. I for one, will remember his gentle nature and shy smile. Anthony remembers laughter and fun. Robbie holds a special memory for each of us. For you, a lifetime of wonders and joy.
You have been blessed.

I was a student at Robious Elem. while you were Vice Principal and I attended JRHS with Robbie. I had the pleasure of going to homecoming with Robbie our sophmore year of high school. He was such and amazing person, just like his mother! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

Dear Gale and Bill,
My husband and I were among the many, many people who attended the beautiful memorial service for Robbie yesterday. It’s been some time since you’ve seen me, but I’m sure you’ll recall who I am when I say I am Phil Nunnally’s mom. Philip and his wife, Sarah, were also at the service. We waited for a while during the reception, but there were so many people who wanted to give you their condolences, we didn’t stay long past about 1 p.m.
Since I wasn’t able to tell you in person, I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you how very sorry we are about Robbie’s passing. Although we had never met him, we came away feeling that we had, thanks to the eloquent eulogies shared by Bill and the other speakers. I had never been to a memorial service or funeral where there were so many people in attendance, but I quickly found out why so many had come to honor Robbie and show their love and support for your family.
I have reflected on the inspiring and uplifting service a lot since yesterday. Everything about it was beautiful and perfect. Your faith shone through every element. It certainly saddens me to think of everyone that Lindsey, and now Robbie, left behind. The pain of no longer having them around must be immeasurable. But, it occurred to me that, unlike many people who live longer lives, Lindsey and Robbie were able to accomplish so much and influence so many people with their love, strength, courage and faith, they simply accomplished everything in less time. You two clearly did an amazing job raising two incredible children!
I will continue to keep you all in my prayers, and I hope that memories of the happier times you shared with Robbie and Lindsey will soon replace the sadness of the loss that you must be experiencing now.

We were stunned to hear about Robbie on December 19. It's hard to believe someone so young would have a stroke. You had mentioned how much Robbie grieved for Lindsey. I can make no other sense of this other than to think Lindsey needed him more than you or he needed her. You both have such strong beliefs and many, many friends. Lean on family, friends and God as you go though this time of grieving. Know that we are grieving with you and praying for God to comfort you.

Not long ago I ran into you and your mom at Ukrops. I had just seen the beautiful picture of you and Lindsey in the paper, and learned that she had passed away earlier in the year. Now to pick up the paper and read that Robert has passed away is too hard to imagine, for any parent. I remember you still had your beautiful smile when you talked about Lindsey that day. That same smile you had at Robious Elementary when my son attended there in the 80's. My deepest sympathy to you, Bill, Robert's grandmothers, and the rest of his family. "Lessons from Lindsey" has provided many hours of comfort (and of course, smiles)- it is now my source of strength to find the words to say at this time. Jamie called from Switzerland this morning and learned of Rob's death through a facebook message during our phone visit. We are sharing your sorrow and seek peace envisioning your two children reunited in the gentle care of our Lord. With an already heavy heart, Jamie talked of knowing Rob as a source of strength to Lindsey and the family during these last years. The news of Rob's death is more than our hearts can imagine and you shall continue to be close in daily prayer.
