Robert Wind Obituary
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Henry F. Wind; his mother, Ella R. Wind; brother, Rev. Charles R. Wind; and his sister, Margery W. Baerwald.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Shirley Marie Wind; eight children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Early in his career Rev. Wind spent time working in hospital and correctional institution chaplaincy, but devoted most of his working life to congregational pastoral endeavors. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was the Pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Richmond, Va., where he served for 25 years. Even in retirement, he continued his pastoral mission by serving multiple small congregations until the age of 90.
A service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9400 Redbridge Rd., Richmond, Va. 23236.

One of the favorite things he would do when he was about to read scripture; he would give you a bit of what was going on in peoples lives, the situation at hand. he would then weave that into the scripture. It was always perfect and easy to comprehend.

Pastor Wind is one of the three men who had a forever impact on my life and my relationship with Jesus Christ. My Dad, Pastor Wind , and Fred Fehr. He had a wonderful talent of putting together what people in scripture were going through and the cause and effect of what was happening. He was a dear friend to me personally and we had loads of fun together. He will always be my Forever Pastor. Gods speed sir. Well done Faithful Servant. You will never be forgotten.

Me and my wife Tracy had the distinct pleasure of having Pastor Wind as our pastor soon after we started our marriage journey. We came to know him when we were attending St. Paul Lutheran, in Sandston, in the late 1990s, when he was serving as the church's temporary pastor. He also baptized Tracy. I remember my mother attending services at St. Paul and hearing Pastor Wind preach with that booming voice and saying "now that's how a preacher should sound." He was a great man and servant of Jesus. I'm glad we got to see him and Shirley again on several occasions in the past six months while attending Redeemer Lutheran. Heaven is rejoicing at his arrival, no doubt.
