Roberta Palsa Obituary

Roberta "Bobbie" Palsa

July 27, 1942 - October 25, 2024

PALSA, Roberta "Bobbie" Marie (Douglas), 82, of North Chesterfield, passed away on October 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harry Douglas and Eunice Kay Douglas, her brothers, John Edward Douglas and Larry Alan Douglas, and her husband Joseph "Joe" Palsa.

Bobbie is survived by her son, William "Bill" Palsa and wife, Debra "Debbie"; and daughters, Susan Palsa McAulay-Kidd; Barbara Jo "BJ" Palsa and wife, Elisabeth; Kristina Palsa Buchanan and husband, Scott; and Amy Palsa Huskey and husband, William "Shane" Huskey; as well as ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. Bobbie was the HEART of her family, and she loved each and every one - always being their biggest cheerleader.

Bobbie was a prominent figure in the canine care community, giving Great Danes, Poodles, and other breeds a place to call home for over 50 years, including her roommate "Buddy", a Great Dane/Poodle mix who had ALWAYS been by her side since the day Buddy adopted her. She was an administrator for the Canine Addisons Disease Group, and was often called upon by people from all over the world for her advice and reassuring words. She was also a pillar in her church choir for decades, as well as a familiar face at American Family Fitness in Midlothian as recently as two weeks ago. She will be missed by countless friends and family members.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 1801 Camborne Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23236. A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory, to the Building and Grounds Fund of St. David's Episcopal Church, North Chesterfield, VA.

Bobbie and I go back so far....we did AOL Beta Testing together and it was quite a community...I can't even remember how many years back that was, but we always stayed Facebook friends. We were like minded in our political views and always dumbfounded at the same things we saw happening. I will miss her comments and her easy grin. I lost my own mom almost two years ago, and I know the devastation of that. May her memory always be a blessing and may all of her previous beloved dog been waiting there on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge greeting her arrival. I will miss her.

It´s difficult to accept that you are no longer with us. Your commitment to people and their sick dogs was a light and comfort for many. Even though we never met in person, it makes me sad that the world has become a little darker without you.

Bobbie, You will be missed! I so enjoyed our online conversations. You were ALWAYS so kind and taught me so much abut being an advocate for my dogs. Rest easy with the Danes and Poodles.
