Robin Herbert Obituary

Robin Marshall Herbert

June 15, 1962 - September 1, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that her family announces the death of Robin Marshall Herbert, 62, of Richmond VA, following a courageous battle against melanoma. She passed away on September 1, 2024 peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones. We will always cherish and remember her love for her family, her kind and joyful spirit, and her humor and wit.

Born June 15, 1962, "Lady Ra-Ra" had a creative spirit expressed in life through art and gardening and an abounding love for animals. Her many childhood and adult furry friends including Lily, Casey, Tucker, Goose, Beau, Cooper, and Moonpie, were always by her side. But she had no greater passion than for family. Robin had an unfailing devotion to raising her three girls and most recently was a joyous "Mimi" to her granddaughter, while anticipating the expected arrival next month of her grandson. Robin enjoyed spending time at home or on the water, on holidays or any day, with those whom she loved and who loved her.

Robin is survived by her parents Robert Gayle and Polly Thompson Marshall; her husband of 37 years Ronald Paul Herbert; her three beloved daughters Ashton Phillips Herbert, Kelsey Herbert Alvis (Jody), and Ann Carter Herbert (significant other Michael); grand-daughter Shepherd Jean Alvis; devoted sister Carter Marshall Reid (Joe) and brothers Charles Evans Marshall (Debbie) and Frank Thompson Marshall (Kate); brother-in-law Rob Herbert (Cathy); nieces and nephews Katherine and Will Reid, Abby and Drew Marshall, and Patrick, Caitlin, Chris and Matt Herbert; a host of cousins in Richmond, Tidewater, and elsewhere; and many close friends.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude for the compassionate care given to Robin by her medical teams, in particular at VCU Health and Georgetown Medical Center, throughout her illness.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 5th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bliley's Funeral Homes, located at 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond VA. Funeral services will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1627 Monument Avenue, Richmond VA at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, followed by a reception at the church. Interment private.

If so inclined, please honor Robin by a gift to the Richmond Animal League or the Melanoma Research Alliance.

Polly and family, Words are inadequate now. I don't know what to say other than I am so sorry for your loss. Robin loved animals and had a kind heart. She had a wonderful family and that time with them and with others who were a part of her life, blessed her life.

Incredibly wonderful memories of Robin and her time as a parent here at Trinity. Her kindness, and that of her daughters was what struck me the most. She will be missed by all.
