Ronald Clarke Obituary

Ronald Lee Clarke

November 7, 1946 - June 11, 2025

Ronald Lee Clarke of Moseley, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born on November 7, 1946, he was the beloved eldest son of the late Leo and Dorothy Clarke. Ronald is remembered by his wife, Sheila, and his wonderful children: Steve Walls (Cindy), April Perkins Rispo, and Crystal Perkins; 4 grandchildren, Arianna, Gracie, Sophia, and Daniel, along with many adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Naija, Vivian Gabriel, Heaven, and Zuri; brother David Clarke (Debbie). Ron, also known as" Ronnie", Butch, or Mr. Clarke, was a loving husband, father, teacher, coach, and friend. He coached little league football for MAA while his daughters cheered on the sidelines. His red 1976 Stingray Corvette was a fixture at homecoming games. Ron prioritized attending his kids' swimming meets, piano lessons, and dance recitals. He also coached girls' softball for eight years and drove any girl needing a ride to practice or games. Everyone who knew Ron will miss his warm spirit and dedication. He worked at DuPont for many years and even helped open a plant in Spain. After retiring, he taught at the ABC Virginia Apprenticeship Program for 30 years. He also shared his knowledge at Richmond Technical Center, Chesterfield Technical Center, and the Davis and Green Apprentice Program. One of his proudest moments was when a student won first place in the National Championships, an achievement unmatched by any other teacher since. Teaching was his passion, and he loved helping others discover their potential. Along the way, he made lifelong friends with colleagues, including Ron Lushbaugh and Tim Harvey. Ron was always good for a laugh and loved a great joke. He took pride in being a lifetime member of the NRA and had a heart of gold, truly "one of a kind." His warmth and positivity will be missed by everyone he touched. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I also taught at Chesterfield Tech and knew Ron as the day school instructor. He was a great guy and always invited me to judge the V.I.C.A. HVAC competitions. I think I knew and worked with the student who won nationals. Ron should have been proud, what an accomplishment for both of them. He did wonderful things at Chesterfield Tech.
