Russell S. "Russ" Wood

WOOD, Russell "Russ" S., (83), passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 1, 2024, after living with Alzheimer's for 10 years. Russ was born to Russell Yelpton Wood and Katherine Kaloski Wood on July 8, 1940. Russ graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in 1962, having been in the Corp of Cadets. He later received his Masters of Business Administration from University of Richmond. Russ enjoyed a long career as an engineer at DuPont and later at Virginia Power, ultimately retiring from both companies. He was proud to be an ACCA Shriner, a member of the Mini Patrol, and a driver of his mini "corvette". He is survived by his loving wife and "angel", Sharon L. Wood; his three daughters, Deborah Wood, Kelley Williamson (Alan) and Michele Paulson (Steve); his stepson, Scott Bailey; and a troop of grandchildren, Ashley (Will), Austin, Anna, Preston, Dillon, Brett, Zach, Rachel, Claire, Cormac, Noah, Joseph, Bella, and Mali. He thought he was a lucky duck. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Bliley's Chippenham Chapel 6900 Hull Street Road, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park at 12 p.m., with a reception immediately following.
