Ruth Comstock Obituary

COMSTOCK, Ruth C., age 97, of Jeannette, Pa. and formerly of Midlothian, Va., died peacefully with family by her side on October 31, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late George Jay Comstock for 61 years; proud mother of four sons, William Jay (Carolyn, Escondido, Calif.), Robert John (Joyce, Irwin, Pa.), the late Thomas James (Anne, Covington, Ky.) and George Jeffrey (Bon Air, Va.); loving grandmother of Carrie (Mathias) Schwender, David (Carise) Comstock, Benjamin Comstock, Megan (Tyler) Williams, Allison (Phil) Chapman, Gregory (Colleen) Comstock, Michael (Gina) Comstock, Grant (Hannah) Comstock, Renee Comstock; and 16 great-grandchildren; aunt of Ann (Paul) Spangler. Ruth worked as a registered nurse following nursing training in Chicago. Upon raising her family in Niles, Ohio, Ruth returned to nursing and retired in 1982. In Niles, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church; her interests included family, her faith, gardening, sewing, knitting and reading. She and her husband relocated to Midlothian, Va. in 1985, where they were members of Southminster Presbyterian Church and more recently, Bon Air Presbyterian Church. In response to their love of God and those less fortunate, Ruth and George were founding members of Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Road, North Chesterfield, Va. 23235.
