Sarah Paynter Obituary

Sarah Edna Davis Paynter, 92, of Ashland, died October 31, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Herman Jones Paynter; her daughter, Charlotte Paynter Reamy and her husband, Ryland Osborne Reamy Jr. of Midlothian, Va.; her grandsons, Ryland Paynter Reamy and his wife, Sandra Brown Reamy of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Ryland Derek Reamy and his wife, Sarah Jaffe Reamy of Portland, Ore.; her great-grandchildren, Sampson of Las Vegas, Nev., Ericka and Ashley of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Katherine, Jack, Peter and Matthew, all of Portland, Ore.; her sister, Ruby Mae Hitt of Stevensburg, Va.; and brother, Gilbert Davis of Oxford, N.C. She also leaves behind from North Carolina, Vivian and Macey Paynter and their children, Rann, Sara and Wendy, who were loved as grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryland O. Reamy III. Mrs. Paynter was partner with her husband in Paynter's Department Store in Ashland from 1954 until 1977. She was an active member of First Baptist Church - Ashland, the Henry Clay Woman's Club and the Clay Spring Garden Club. Friends may call in the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., on Tuesday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church - Ashland. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery. Remembering her love of beautiful flowers and gardens, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Garden Fund, 800 Thompson St., Ashland, Va. 23005.

We are so sorry to hear about the death of this dear Christian women. She was loved by many, and will be missed by her many friends. She was a blessings to her church and her friends.
