Shirley Jennell Waller, "Dolly," age 86, passed at her home in Hanover, surrounded by her family on September 1, 2025, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Dolly fought with courage, and with the support of her family and close friends.

Dolly was born in Richmond on October 16, 1938, the daughter of Richard Jennell Jr. and Jewell A. Jennell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Durwood Waller; and her daughter, Darlene Waller.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Myers (Bud), and Donna Hulshoff; her son, Charles Waller; her granddaughters, Sydney Hulshoff, Alyssa Hulshoff, Madison Borovatz; her great-grandson, Brodi Smith; sister-in-law; Betty Waller; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Raised in Richmond's Fan District, she began her family there with her husband and then moved to Richmond's West End to raise their four children. While being a housewife, Dolly also helped manage the family's business, Waller Brother's Tile Company. With her and Chuck's love of the water, they purchased their second home in Colonial Beach, where the family enjoyed many years of summer vacations.

Her love for thrifting and collectables brought her an abundance of joy and dear friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Many local restaurants would call her a regular. Dolly's weekly breakfast and lunch club with her close friends, and visits to her hair salon were the highlights of her week. There were so many people and places along her journey that filled her with love and laughter. You all know who you are, and we are grateful.

The love of her life was always her family. Either spending time with them at home, in a restaurant, on a ship or plane, she was ready for new adventures.

Her personality was one to be adored by all who knew her. It's safe to say if you met her, you would not forget her. We know we never will.

A visitation will be held at Bliley's from 11 am to 12 pm on September 13th, at 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond 23228.

The service will directly follow at 12 pm in Chapel at Bliley's.
