Stephen Overberg

1957 - 2025

Stephen Richard Overberg, age 68, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at home in Henrico County, Va. He was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Bridgewater, N.J. He was graduated from the Catholic University of America in Washington with an engineering degree in 1980.

He was a chemical engineer and statistical analyst in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. He worked for AT&T's Western Electric subsidiary and after the breakup of the Bell System, its Lucent Technologies spinoff and successor, Alcatel-Lucent. He later worked for Wyeth and through a series of acquisitions, mergers and spinoffs, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Haleon. He retired in 2022. He was also active as a deacon in the former Westhampton Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.

He is survived by four siblings: Paul (Melissa); Virginia (Jeffrey); Mark (Lisa); and Robert (Susanne). He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carol Overberg of Gum Spring, Va. He will be interred at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Mineral, Va.
