Stephen Sarver Obituary

SARVER Stephen Paris Sarver, 55, passed peacefully in the early morning of November 24, 2006 at his home in Richmond, Va. After a successful stem-cell transplant in September 2005. Steve spent a wonderful year with family and friends before his disease returned in the summer. He parted with dignity, grace, and his family at his side. An Eagle Scout, distinguished Nuclear Professional, and profoundly dedicated family man, Steve selflessly served all those around him. He was born and grew up in Roanoke, Va., where he developed a great appreciation for the wonders of nature. Steve earned a BS in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, though he remained a Hokie at heart. He enjoyed a long and celebrated career with Dominion Resources, including work at Surry Nuclear Power Plant, Dominion-Innsbrook, and Millstone Power Station. Steve is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pat; two daughters, Emily Sarver of Richmond, and Sarah Daggett and her husband, Matt, of Boston, Mass.; his mother, Edith Sarver of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, Bill Sarver and his wife, Linda, of Roanoke; two sisters, Toni Hales of Wilmington N.C., and Karen Chenault and her husband, Gary of Williamsburg; father-in-law, James "Scoby" Price of Chester; brother-in-law, Alan Price and his wife, Kathy, of Old Saybrook, Conn.; and sister-in-law, Beverly Sarver of Cary, N.C. Steve's committment, loyalty, and perseverance in every endeavor will continue to inspire all who have been blessed to know and love him. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home Chesterfield Chapel on Ashbrook Parkway, on Saturday December 2, 2006, with a memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. The Sarver family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Steve's name to either the Boy Scouts of America, 4015 Fitzhugh Ave. Richmond, Va. 23230, or the Lukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Mill Rd., Suite 105 Richmond, Va. 23228.

Admiration is defined as a feeling of esteem and liking. This is how we felt about Steve. Everything he did was done well and with consideration for all those around him. I have worked for a number of people in my life and few could ever attain the degree of Admiration I hold for Steve Sarver. It is a sad day in our household and tears have and will be shed.
To Pat and the Girls, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
It was an Honor to have known Steve Sarver.

Pat, Sarah and Emily,
Although I did not know Steve very well, I know he had to be a great guy to marry Pat, a friend for 30 odd years. I've had the opportunity to meet both of his beautiful girls. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Aunt Pat, Sarah, and Emily,
Our family is now feeling the emptiness and sadness from having another "hole" in it. My heart is especially breaking for each of you. We will all miss Steve so very much and are so grateful for the many wonderful memories the family has because of him. I hope you all may find peace and comfort knowing that he is now at home with Granddaddy and Uncle Joe. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Suzy McWard
