Suzanne Harrigan Obituary

Suzanne King Harrigan (Brient), 81, passed away on January 31, 2024, in Manteca, California, with her family by her side.

She was born on May 11, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, to her parents Suzanne Winston Brient, Pelto (Miller) and Robert Harlow Brient.

Suzanne had a rich and fulfilling life. She traveled extensively with her family and was actively involved in school clubs and playing badminton at Venice High School in Venice, Florida.

On September 12, 1959, Suzanne married Robert J. Harrigan, a Coast Guard ET, in Venice, Florida. They relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where they raised three sons and a daughter.

Suzanne became a computer programmer in the late 1960s and, together with her husband, started Harrigan & Brient & Associates, a bookkeeping and tax firm, in Milpitas, California, in 1981. The business expanded to Santa Rosa, California, in 1983. Suzanne was an active member of the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, taught finance at contractor's license schools, and volunteered for multiple non-profit organizations. Her dedication and contributions made her loved and admired by many in the community.

In 2008, Suzanne and Robert sold their business to their daughter, Suzi, and retired to Potter Valley, California. During her time in Potter Valley, Suzanne enjoyed genealogy, cooking, quilting, history, puzzle games, gardening, and most importantly, being around her family.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Robert J. Harrigan, Jr. of Anchorage, AK; Thomas M. and Robin L. (Koreski) Harrigan of Petaluma, CA; Peter M. and Sony Harrigan of Mariposa, CA; Suzi V. (Harrigan) and James Whitney of Manteca, CA; her grandchildren: Kelsey J. Harrigan of Nashville, TN; her brother, Robert H. Brient, Jr. of Columbia, SC; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Rush M. and Susan (Wood) Pelto of Medina, OH; Frank O. and Betty Joe Pelto of Myrtle Beach, SC. Suzanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert James Harrigan (February 28, 1938 - March 5, 2022), and her daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Harrigan (February 6, 1964 - February 8, 1964), at the Potter Valley Cemetery, in Potter Valley, CA.

Suzanne attended Venice High School in Venice, Florida, where she completed her high school education.

A funeral service to honor Suzanne's life will be held on February 17, 2024, at 11:30 AM at St Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 900 South Oak St., Ukiah, CA 95482.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Heifer International (https://www.heifer.org), an organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty throughout the world.

The Eversol Mortuary in Ukiah, California, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
